Inspired by the example of the Saintly Founder of the CMI, Kuriakose Elias Chavara; a Resource Centre was started at Jeevass Kendram, on 1st May, 2001. Jeevas Family Institute was blessed by the then Prior General, Very Rev. Fr. Alex Ukken, CMI, and it was inaugurated by the then Provincial of CMI S.H. Province, Kochi, Rev. Fr. Jose Alex Oruthayappilly. Besides the members of the St. Antony’s Asram, some CMI scholastics attended the ceremonies. Also present were Dr. Fr. A. Mathias Mundadan, Founder Director of Acharya Palackal Jeevass Kendram, Dr. Fr Cherian Kuniathodath CMI, Rev. Fr. Antony Ferrer CMI. Rev. Sr. Emmanuel CSSE, M.A., D. Fam.(staff).
Jeevass kendram Retreat Centre is situated in Aluva near the railway station opposite the government girls school Aluva. Jeevass kendram was established in September 2011. An intercessory prayer group prays for the retreatants. Bible-based, preaching, teaching and faith healing services for the sick, free praise and worship, confession, spiritual counseling, holy mass, adoration of holy eucharist are the main spiritual programs. The retreat centre aims at orientation towards the word of god, holy sacraments and commitments to the teaching of the holy catholic church for establishing the kingdom of God.
Holistic Goal
The Jeevas Family Institute is intended to function as a holistic mental health resource centre where prevention is given importance just as the curative aspects. The Institute employs BET-MRT therapy system. This involves brain wave modulation therapy and has been proven to be very effective in treating children’s and adults’ mental health problems. This is a Licensed practice under IPR. Our long term goal is to develop this Institute into an early detection centre, with preventive intervention modalities, and long term maintenance infrastructure. Eventually, this Institute will function as an excellent teaching, holistic mental health facility for families.
